Background
During the summer of 2003, Newquay Regeneration Forum and Restormel Regeneration Partnership instigated a number of meetings with users of Newquay Harbour in order to identify opportunities for Harbour related regeneration.
There was considerable enthusiasm for a range of possibilities, including small-scale environmental improvements. In addition a number of local Fisherman visited the Royal Cornwall Show held in June and reported enthusiastically on the ‘Fish Forever’ promotion. Fishermen were aware of similar Festivals in Newlyn and Falmouth and wished to consider the possibility of a Festival for Newquay.
The Newquay Fish Festival was subsequently born, with the first small event taking place in September of 2003. Now in its 8th year, the Festival is firmly placed on the Newquay event calendar and is enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike.

Newquay Harbour has a lively and thriving micro-economy; the traditional fishing industry works comfortably alongside the ever changing face of tourism in Cornwall. It is a working harbour with a laid back atmosphere, an amazing little beach and surrounded by some of the best restaurants in Newquay.

Blue Reef Aquarium - free Rock Pool Shows every day of the 2010 festival.
