Festival 2011
Fishy Antics in September will go ahead….

The planning for the 2011 Newquay Fish Festival is in full swing. Over the weekend of 9, 10, 11 September Newquay will look forward to the phenomenal 2011 Newquay Fish Festival on the Harbour. With great chefs and entertainment already lined up.
After the Newquay Fish Festival last year we did not know whether we would be able to hold the event in 2011 as Cornwall Council’s/ Restormel Borough Council’s pledge for funding has come to an end but the organisers are looking to the future and forging forward with the fantastic event which is loved by the community of Newquay and visitors alike
Newquay Fish Festival is in its 9th year and gives Newquay an opportunity to showcase one of its hidden gems 'the harbour' and grows in popularity each year both residents and visitors. In 2010 the harbour attracted over 12, 000 people over the weekend who sampled delicious fish dishes, watched local chefs rustle up amazing food from local produce, enjoy entertainment throughout the weekend from Last Night of the Proms to local groups.
We are delighted to have 2 of our main sponsors supporting the Newquay Fish Festival again this year.Newquay Town Council and Start and Co, Jonathan Start says ‘As a local family firm Start & Co are committed to supporting the Newquay community and are delighted to be a main sponsor of the Fish Festival again this year. This exciting annual event highlights the important role the harbour plays within the town and we hope the people of Newquay come and support and enjoy all the festival has to offer’
Cllr Lynda Cherry of Newquay Town Council also said ‘We are proud and happy to support the Newquay Fish Festival. It is one of the best events that happen in the town. It is enjoyed by locals and tourist alike and for these reasons Newquay Town Council will continue to give its support.’
A new headline sponsor has also been secured this year The Newquay Voice. Newquay Voice Andrew Laming says ‘The Newquay Voice is proud to mark its 10th anniversary at the fish festival, which has become such an important part of the town's annual calendar. The event brings the community together and celebrates the town's wonderful location and colourful history perfectly.’
Additional sponsorship for the event is currently being sought and any businesses that wish to be involved with the Newquay Fish Festival 2011 please contact us.
Bookings are rolling in for this year’s stalls, with limited space on the harbour the balance of the stalls is key to the Festival. The organisers aim to show a variety Cornish produce and wears, ensuring there is something for everyone to buy, sell and taste.
This year there will be more great music, harbour entertainment, refreshments, arts, and crafts for all the family. Following the success of Last Night of the Proms last year, with Mount Charles Band, we are welcoming them back to headline our Friday night entertainment and we also planning Saturday entertainment as well…watch local press for details…..
To put this and any event on volunteers are key to success of the weekend and if you are able to offer and hour over the weekend, offer sponsorship, have a stall or participating in any way, we would look forward to hearing from you!
